One-Month Blogging Challenge

Shaun Guthrie’s post asks for people to come up with challenges for him. Life-altering types of challenges. I suggested a blog-centric challenge of a post per day, of at least 150 words. I suggested that I would meet that challenge, as well.

Expanding on that, and in the fear that my personal blog-o-sphere has been languishing, lately, I have decided to challenge you ALL!

That’s right. That clank you just heard was the gauntlet being dropped at your feet.

If you think you have what it takes, leave a comment here, and I’ll put a link to your blog for all to see.

Official-type stuff

  • The challenge will run from July 10 to August 10
  • Posts should be longer than 150 words
  • Posts should be on different subjects. A daily “I’m home, this is my obligatory post” with 143 “blah”s at the end probably doesn’t count. This is an attempt to get content up.
  • Blogs that sign up for the challenge and successfully complete all 31 days will be awesome.
  • Blogs that sign up for the challenge and try, then give up will also be awesome, just slightly less-so
  • Blogs that sign up and never even try will not be awesome.
  • Blogs that don’t sign up will retain their original levels of awesome.

I’m not an incredibly motivated blogger, most of the time, and I work best when there’s a deadline or an obligation. Sure, this challenge is an artificial obligation with artificial deadlines, but maybe it’ll work.

Who’s in?

  1. I’ll consider it however I was trying to go for a more healthier, active lifestyle type of challenge that doesn’t involve a computer as much however if I’m doing a 6 week challenge of 100 pushups I’d be blogging at least once a week anyway so maybe I will join. if I do then i’ll blog on July 10th stating that

  2. Cool.

    Active lifestyle… Pff.

I am curious to see how your active lifestyle challenge goes, though.

  3. I’m curious to see how Mr. “I’m going to be the dad of three at any given moment” is going to blog every day…

  4. I think this is a fun idea, but I shall not be signing up.
My own goals is a daily word count.. i.e., that it goes up every day.
I haven’t been so bold as to quantify a target (i used to hope for 500, but now it’s more how many hours i put in). FoW could certainly use some new content, but it’s taking a backseat to the story I’m trying to write pull out of me.

  5. Oh, so it’s an old fashioned showdown, is it? I’se in…I’se all UP in this sucka’s kitchen!

  6. Cliff: I look forward to the competition.

James: The last point on my Official Bit is still in effect. No cred will be lost or gained by non-participation. Only lip-service will be punished with lack of said cred.

  7. Unfortunately, I’ll be away from a PC this weekend, and then gone for a whole week later this month.

This event makes me want to blog again, however.

  8. Possibly Sean:

You can still participate! Nobody says you have to fill all 31 days. It would still increase the awesomeness of the Blog-o-rama.

  9. My blog is in dire need of some love. So I’ll take your challenge merely as a means to attempt to resuscitate the poor thing.

    Go me!

  10. I take your challenge! Blog posts at 45 paces.

  11. Chad: Glad to have you on board.
Vlad: You realize this has to be original content, right?

  12. VLAD…is going to actually WRITE something?

I’ll be shocked if you make it a week, Dudas!

  13. This will be easy! I take your challenge and laught in your face.

I then also challenge you to do the 100 push up challenge. I think i’m going to take that challenge on starting Monday.

  14. Pffft…you don’t even bring enough to the table for me to tell you you got NOTHIN’…you’re bringin’ LESS than nothin’! You gots negative skills. They’re like anti-skills, so heinous they actually dispose of whatever meager abilities you may have started with.

So…five of us then, eh? Excellent…

And seriously, no offense to Vlad but does anyone think someone OTHER than him drops off first? :)

  15. I have faith that Vlad will hang around for a long time.

    ‘Cuz ya gotta have faith.

  16. Okay me too. I’m not gonna say I’ll make it, but a new city with no friends yet, means I should be able too right? My blog has gone the way of Kim’s (though I read her posting today), so maybe I can find a few things to write about and revive it, even if I only meet half the challenge. BLAH blah blah blah blah.

  17. Just started a blog, so I won’t have the guilt of re-purposing old material just to get a blog entry.

But I will have the “WTF do I write now” syndrome.

    Good luck to you all!

  18. Lamb-con! I LOVE LAMB-CON!!!

I’m totally up for Liam’s Awesome Midsummer Blog Contest!

Who’s going to make a logo for everyone’s page of a little sheep saying “Blaaaa…”?

  19. Hi, my darling husband. I love you oodles. I would also like to sign up for the summer blogging challenge.

    Wuv ooo!

    Kim

ps This is actually Liam, but if you read Kim’s blog, you can see her post that includes her in the bloggery fun.

  20. Screw off with putting that mushy crap in my mouth!
