Summer Blog Challenge
Or – How I Spent My Summer Vacation
Summer Blog Challenge Post #1
Hello, and welcome to the Summer Blog Challenge. Some might think of this as a little bit of a cop-out, but I figured it made sense that I examine my motivations in hosting and participating in this challenge.
As I mentioned earlier, Guthrie posted a desire to have a challenge to live up to. Several people had good suggestions, and after reading James’s variety, this idea crept into the back of my head and took up residence. I suggested it to him, but then decided that I didn’t want him to have all the fun. Hell, I can try new challenges, too!
The more I thought about it, the more this challenge made sense to me. I always kick my ass for not writing more, for not blogging more, and at the end of the day, kicking my ass doesn’t do anything more than make it hard to sit down. The only thing that gets stuff written is actually writing it. In general, I do better with a deadline. So, I figured I would try this out. And with so many of you out there, trying alongside me, I think I have a good chance of making this work.
“But, Liam,” some of you will say, “you’ve got a baby on the way. Why would you do this now?”
To that I would reply, “Strike while the iron is hot. Sing when the tune moves you.” I’m inspired, right now. Sure, it may become inconvenient for a little bit, but just because I’m posting these at one-per-day doesn’t mean I’m writing them that way. I plan on having two or three of these in the can by the end of the first day, just in case I can’t get to the computer for more than a couple of minutes on some of these days.
So, for the next 31 days, content is going to be pretty thick around these parts. Hopefully, this will be a turning point for In The Now. If not, it’ll at least be an intense month (what with the baby coming any minute now, and all).
Nice…I’m not the only one whose first blog post was of the cop out ‘let’s explain what’s coming up’ variety.
